Easy pickup. Brief paperwork. Fun and technologically up-to-date car. A little hard to find the Naples car rental drop-off but that's not Hertz specific.

I don’t set the bar very high for car rental experiences, but this was the worst I’ve ever had. I waited almost an hour and a half for my car with only three others in line. The issue was that Hertz removed chip readers from their card scanners. They were blaming multiple credit card declines on each customers. I almost was not able to rent my vehicle because of an issue with their card readers. I was not the only customer with this issue. I was offered (and paid for) one vehicle, and once everything was closed out they had me wait for my car. Finally, they pulled up with a different vehicle entirely. This was an unacceptable experience. Everyone in the location was friendly, but frankly brain dead.

Advance check in was easy. I rented via car rentals.com. That was a pain since you can't contact hertz directly if you have an issue with a late plane or canceled flight to tell them you aren't coming. Did save a bunch of money with prepay.

Enterprise called me shortly after my initial reservation and said they had no cars available for my selected time, but they would have a vehicle for me later in the day. Thirty minutes before my new pick up time, that enterprise set, they called me to tell me they didn’t have a car for me. I explained to them that I needed a car desperately and would be willing to take any vehicle, and pay any price associated with a new vehicle. The person I spoke with then told me they had no cars at all as their current stock was already set to be rented out for the day. The associate then asked if there was anything else she could do for me, then ended the call. Long story short enterprise shouldn’t rent out cars if they know they don’t have the stock to fulfill the customer promise.

Pros:

I've rented a lot of these types of vans and this one was the best with all the upgrades that have been done. When I reserved the van, I reserved a "mini van" but when I went to pick up, I was offered either a 8 passenger van with extra cargo room or a SUV. I took the van. It did really well. The price was great. Check in was quick. Check out took a bit longer but it was also the end of the day. I will definitely look to them again when:if I need to rent a vehicle again.

I did not like anything about this rental. The car we had was the most miserable ride. Extremely uncomfortable seats and less than efficient shock absorbers. The car had not been cleaned between customers and smelled of smoke. I returned the car 22 hours early and was given no rebate. That is a bad policy.

Reserved a luxury SUV (Audi Q5 or equivalent was stated). When I arrived I was given the choice of only two SUV’s, both Ford Expedition Max. The vehicle is the biggest SUV Ford makes…6000lbs, 7 passenger and 20’ long. Not a luxury SUV and a gas guzzler averaging 13 mpg. You need a step ladder to climb into the vehicle. Was not a pleasant experience trying to drive and park that thing around Charleston SC.

The agent I worked with at the counter when picking up the vehicle was excellent, and I am sorry, but I don't have her name handy. Hopefully, you all can see that from the paperwork and will give her kudos, as she did a fantastic job and was super friendly and helpful. She is a valuable asset to your company. I watched her work with the customers before me, and they left with the same sense of gratitude that I had when I finished working with her. Especially after the day I had been traveling.

Being Scammed for fuel is not a good experience especially from a brand such as Sixt. I rented a car with a supposed full tank. the Car is a small Car and that can hardly burn more than 5/6 litres per 100km. After I drove 130 KM and returned the car, I had to fill in 15.3 liters . this only means one thing, the car was not full. the second car I rented and that I am still driving, shows 670km autonomy and a small red band at the fuel level indicator. Again NOT Full. I have no idea what games are being played at this location with Fuel, but it looks like a Scam to me. SIXT Better ACT

We felt fortunate to get our rental. There were only two agents working, by the time our delayed fight arrived, and the customer lines were very long. We were relieved to get a car, despite the fact that many customers did not. The customer service agent was very friendly and helpful.

I experienced a mechanical issue during my trip. The car I rented might have had some issue before I picked it up. I was asked to pickup another car in another city at no additional cost when I contacted customer care. I did pick up the new vehicle but they charged me 3x more than what the original rental agreement said. This is despite their assurance I won’t be charged extra for the vehicle swap. Dollar’s customer service is the worst I have seen in a decade. They can’t internally route calls to other departments and has insane wait times. The only redeeming thing is that the store manager at DFW airport helped me adjust the rental price to we originally agreed upon. Probably won’t rent again. This is disappointing because Hertz owns Dollar and I always thought Hertz had good customer service.

After a long trip for a stop over in Guam for few days and connecting to another one, the agent was awesome! Her service was outstanding and left a great impression. To top ot off, she was there when I returned the rental, providing the same level of exceptional service Her friendliness and professionalism made my rental experience truly enjoyable.

Absolutely awful. I pre-paid for this car rental and when I arrived to the Payless counter, I was told that no cars were available! Calling Payless customer service was useless. They said that the best they could do is to process a refund... how was that going to help? I was stuck at Indianapolis Airport with no means of getting to my final destination. I will never rent with Payless again.

Check in online was good but the next step to select vehicle was very disappointing- did not go through. Then no response. Thrifty counter at airport was closed- long line at Dollar counter: then had to go on lower level at another counter to get car. Nearly 2 hours before we get car: what’s the use of checking online?

Terrible customer service and gave me a crappy car, low tire pressure at start and ask customer to fill it on the way, engine oil life of 10%. Cause delay on my trip schedule. Charge full at the end of the trip regardless of faulty car and bad customer.

Full size SUV is not a ford edge similar to high lander. Car was not clean when picked up and we had to identify multiple scratches and dents not included on the form so with no attendant outside we had to walk back inside to the rental counter to add them to the form before leaving (extra 20 min process)

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
