I arrived after a full day of flying across country and was exhausted. The woman handling my rental had already chosen a car which would not have been my preference. I arrived at the counter by wheelchair and explained that I needed a car with a more upright seat. She disregarded my comments and said to check the car and come back to the counter if I wanted to switch. At this point, handling my bags and walking with a crutch, this was an unrealistic expectation on her part. I managed to use the car, but found it painful getting in and out of it.

Price was good and the car was nice and clean.

Cons:

When I dropped off at JFK Airport, I was in dire need of a restroom after driving across New York and getting stuck in traffic. The woman at the desk didn’t want to give the code to use the restroom. I guess that will teach me not to have White Privilege.

Was missing window scraper. Car was from Florida, the windshield wiper fluid was not freeze proof. It froze solid in Pennsylvania. I had to stop several times, go to gas station to clean windshield so that I could see. THis was annoying.

The service was excellent. The staff was an incredible team. Antoine is amazing. He is so friendly, yet professional, taking care of multiple customers, yet, not one of them could feel neglected. He used teamwork, asking others to finish customer' service he had set up in computer. I looked up his name, online; it means; "from Latin Antonius) that could mean beyond praise or highly praise-worthy. " I regret, I did not get the name, of the gentleman who took me to my car, and finished my contract. He to was friendly and efficient. Then, when I returned my car, Enterprise hooked me up, with a ride home. Mr. Caesar was very nice to converse with, on the way home. Thanks Enterprise!

The car was really nice, clean and well equipped.

Cons:

I didn't know that the vehicle was not at the airport so I had to pay $40 for a cab to take me to the rental car place. had to change my reservation to drop off at the airport and was then told that I had limited miles so I got charged a lot more than I was expecting. I also couldn't figure out the push button start on the car!

Lady at the counter was asleep and had this attitude where she seems to not want to work and just want to get you out of there. Terrible service. We booked at Budget instead which was right next to National and had way better service.

I didn't like national due the over charge was out rageous, getting charged 80 cents kilometers when it'd suppose to be 33 cents kilometers. They were charging 3000 kilometers when it's 23650 n charging 2000 in kilometers charges when he said I was out of province, they gave me a Alberta license plate car n now they want to charge me, the attitude from the man was very rude,problems with car and said couldnt do anything, I need to be treated like criminal, when it's criminal the way they try and scam you. I will never rent from another rental car company again especially your company, I don't give you any stars and a poor review. Worst company.. the way he ordered me to pay and the way he talked to me in public, he said I don't need to talk to him like that when he kept refusing to give the mangers number and argued with me n when people were staring he said I don't need to be treated this and talked in his language and got angry gave me the number after 20 min, I walked 2 hours home passed off with the treatment and then the guy took the car out and literally stepped on the pedal went more then speed limit on the airport road, he was mad with ne cause I refuse to pay 3000 dollars for double the amount to what was told.. never rent a car in fort st john they will rob you blind...

Reserved a luxury SUV (Audi Q5 or equivalent was stated). When I arrived I was given the choice of only two SUV’s, both Ford Expedition Max. The vehicle is the biggest SUV Ford makes…6000lbs, 7 passenger and 20’ long. Not a luxury SUV and a gas guzzler averaging 13 mpg. You need a step ladder to climb into the vehicle. Was not a pleasant experience trying to drive and park that thing around Charleston SC.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
